Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bradley Burt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miroslaw Okninski! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Joseph Jones and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Okninski decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Burt tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Okninski manages to move to mount!
Burt's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Burt working to try and regain half guard.
Burt might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Okninski sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Okninski goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Burt turns into him and now he's in Okninski's guard.
Okninski looking to hit a scissor sweep but Burt is one step ahead there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Okninski looking to control.
Burt throwing strikes from guard but Okninski blocks nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Burt is stalling in the full guard. Burt won't allow Okninski to sweep him here. Okninski is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Burt controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Burt avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Okninski wants to sweep here but Burt controlling him for the moment. Burt thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Okninski has his hands on Burt's head, controlling the position. Okninski has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Burt has passed into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. You can see the frustration on Okninski's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Burt has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Okninski is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Burt yanks on the arm and Okninski is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Burt.
