Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lan Halifax (ranked 7397 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Souza (ranked 4050 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lan Halifax!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Souza!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Emerson Jorge and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circle momentarily. Halifax darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Halifax thows a left - swing and a miss!
Halifax darts in and clinches Souza up against the cage.
Halifax jumps guard but Souza turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
A frustrated look appears on Souza's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Souza is trying to break free.
We've been hearing reports that Halifax has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
A right handed body shot lands from Halifax.
Halifax jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Souza walks away with a smile on his face. Halifax gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Souza goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Halifax lands with a hook. Souza tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Souza keeps Halifax at a distance using the push kick.
Halifax could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Souza scores with a one two! Halifax had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Souza lands a jab-cross combination.
Souza displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Halifax throws out the jab.
Souza lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Halifax circles away quickly and effectively.
The fighters circle momentarily. Souza darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Halifax throws a hook to the side of Souza's head but Souza sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Souza unleashes a big counter combination but Halifax bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Souza gets in close and tags Halifax with a short punch that almost sends Halifax to the mat! Oh Halifax is in big trouble! He turns his back on Souza, trying to create some distance but Souza rushes him, striking wildly and Halifax goes down! The referee tackles Souza into the cage to end the fight! Souza is one violent man!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Thiago Souza!
