Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexey Andreev! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eugenio Antonio! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Fujiwara and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Antonio walks into a stiff left hand from Andreev. Andreev throws a series of punches but Antonio moves out of range. Antonio shapes to counter with a head kick. Antonio throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Andreev counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Andreev tries to bum rush Antonio with a series of wild strikes but Antonio uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Antonio looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Antonio closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Antonio throws a leg kick and Andreev counters with a right hand to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Andreev throws a jab when Antonio was well out of range. A nice side step and Antonio releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Antonio swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Andreev counters with a straight right hand. Andreev is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Antonio. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Antonio! But no joy. Antonio blocks a jab. Antonio feints a counter leg kick. Andreev feints and as Antonio raises his hands in defense, Andreev changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Andreev postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Antonio is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Andreev postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Andreev missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Andreev connects with a couple of short punches. Andreev loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Antonio working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Andreev. Antonio wants to stand and escape but Andreev is having none of it. Antonio manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Antonio fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Antonio misses with a hook from the clinch. Antonio manages to break the clinch.
Antonio moves out of range as Andreev strikes. Andreev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Andreev seems to be working for a kimura but Antonio defends the submission attempt. Antonio is trying to stand back up but Andreev is controlling him

Andreev scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Antonio is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Andreev connects with a nice short shot to Antonio's temple. Andreev missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Andreev stops Antonio from getting back to his feet.
Andreev is looking to advance position but Antonio won't allow it. Andreev lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Antonio taking some punishment here, with Andreev in his half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Antonio is looking for a sweep. Andreev is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Andreev looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Antonio with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Andreev working Antonio over with strikes. Antonio wants to get back to his feet. Andreev takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Andreev is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Andreev stops Antonio from getting back to his feet.
Andreev is nestled in close to Antonio, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Antonio is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Andreev scores with a couple of nice shots. Antonio tries to roll over but Andreev keeps him under control. Andreev scores with a couple of good hammerfists. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alexey Andreev dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Antonio tries to sprawl out of it but Andreev keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Antonio manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Andreev misses with a hook. Andreev backing away here, and Antonio unleashes a leg kick that just misses. Andreev closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Antonio manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Andreev keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Andreev blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Antonio misses with a hook from the clinch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Antonio softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Antonio breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Andreev ducks under a wild hook from Antonio.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Andreev fails to land the takedown. Eugenio Antonio is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Andreev scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Antonio is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Antonio misses with a looping right. Andreev tries to counter with a takedown but Antonio is quick to defend against it. Andreev throws the left hand but Antonio avoids the punch easily.

Andreev fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Antonio manages to avoid it. Antonio throws a counter combo. Nice defenses there by Antonio. Antonio looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Andreev swings widly with a right hand
enabling Antonio to counter with a crisp jab. Andreev is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Antonio.
It looks like Alexey Andreev has been cut. Andreev is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Antonio can do to turn this around? Antonio tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Antonio looks to throw the jab but Andreev is out of range. It looked like Andreev was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Antonio. A close second round but Eugenio Antonio will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Alexey Andreev's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Andreev fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Antonio to the ground. Andreev is now in Antonio's guard. Antonio keeping full guard, as Andreev tries to pass. Antonio is rocked! Andreev throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Antonio works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Antonio is still in real trouble! Can Andreev finish him? Andreev lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Antonio keeping moving, preventing Andreev from controlling successfully. Andreev might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Antonio wants to get back to his feet but Andreev is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Andreev throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Andreev landing some decent shots from guard. Andreev keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Antonio's head. Andreev loads up on a big left hand. Antonio felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Andreev looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Antonio can't hide his disappointment, as Andreev celebrates the victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alexey Andreev! Alexey Andreev retains his middleweight title! Alexey Andreev decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
