PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy West (ranked 1486 p4p, 226 weight class) and Hank Lombard (ranked 1658 p4p, 252 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think West might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Gojira - Shooting Star. Lombard has chosen Shinedown - Sound Of Madness as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West digs a good body shot into Lombard's ribs.

Lombard throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent West stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Lombard looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

West has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Lombard finds it's way round the side to connect with West's head.

Lombard fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and West has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
West doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Lombard swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by West.
West lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by West.
Lombard walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Lombard closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. West quickly recovers to half guard.

The referee asks Lombard politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Lombard prefers to stall for the moment though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Lombard thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Lombard thuds his right hand into West's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Lombard! West is out on his feet! Lombard rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - West is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! West is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
