The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sharp throws a sloppy body shot
and Baker counters with a one-two to the body.
Sharp looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Baker scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Baker thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Baker wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sharp, who protects the arm well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Baker tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Baker has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Baker is trying to get an arm triangle but Sharp is defending well.
Baker tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Baker has hold of Sharp's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Sharp tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Baker cranks the arm and Sharp screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Sharp, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Dennis Baker!
