Coming up we have a featherweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Jeor Mormont (ranked 8055 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Arlington (ranked 6570 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 1 losses; Jeor Mormont! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Jason Arlington! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Arlington leaves Mormont with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Mormont dives in for a single leg takedown but Arlington sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Arlington gets in close and instigates a clinch. Mormont fails to pull the fight into his guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mormont is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Arlington is trying to maintain the position but Mormont is very close to passing his half guard. Mormont takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Arlington felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Mormont is staying tight to Arlington's torso, preventing him from escaping. Mormont seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Arlington for as long as he can get away with. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Arlington tries to lock up and control but Mormont gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Mormont controlling from the full mount. Mormont avoids the attempt from Arlington to control. Arlington is desperately trying to improve his position but Mormont has a good base and remains in mount. Mormont tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Arlington wants to control but Mormont is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Arlington is controlling an arm, preventing Mormont from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

That's seven minutes gone in the round. Mormont is not content to let Arlington control the position. Mormont can't do much from the bottom here. Mormont sneaks back into half guard. Arlington is keen to just control but Mormont is a slippery customer. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Arlington in particular looking to stall. Mormont is trying to get back to full guard. Mormont is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Arlington jumps into side control! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

No, Mormont has escaped the position, nice work there. Mormont tries to improve position but can't. Arlington thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Mormont really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Arlington tries to move into full mount but can't pass Mormont's legs.

Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Arlington trying to control but Mormont is working from the bottom. Mormont will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Arlington drops back looking for a leg! Mormont is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mormont manages to kick Arlington off! Arlington jumps back into Mormont's guard. Arlington tries to free his leg and advance position but Mormont is retaining full guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
