Coming up we have a middleweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Martin Hewitt (ranked 9070 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy Penn (ranked 21493 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Freddy Penn was going to win. Let's see if he was right.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 1 losses; Martin Hewitt! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 3 losses; Freddy Penn! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Penn with a lazy takedown attempt and Hewitt counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hewitt. Hewitt is pressed up against the cage. Penn has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hewitt down to the mat. Hewitt avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Penn with a poor takedown and Hewitt counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Hewitt (2) vs (0) Penn Martin Hewitt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Freddy Penn. Hewitt is keen to just control but Penn is a slippery customer. The fighters are battling for position here. Penn manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Penn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hewitt can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Hewitt seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Hewitt looking to pass the guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hewitt wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hewitt looking to pass the guard. Penn looking for a guillotine here but Hewitt defends easily.
Hewitt lying in Penn's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Penn decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Hewitt taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
