The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. No luck for Rita with that takedown attempt. Rita decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Rita (2) vs (0) Bugbee Rita is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Rita passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bugbee! Score +3 for passing guard: Rita (5) vs (0) Bugbee Rita has control of Bugbee's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Bugbee regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Bugbee is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. We've been hearing good reports from Rita's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
