The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jones circles away quickly and effectively.
Nick Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones throws a jab when Thomas was well out of range.
Thomas shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense.

Jones gets caught napping as Thomas dives in and scores a takedown. Jones manages to retain guard.

Jones has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Thomas is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Jones has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Thomas uses from the top position.

Jones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Thomas sprawls well initially but Jones persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
