Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mitch Martin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Charlie Mack! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Sergei Dronov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circling - Martin throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Mack avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Martin loads up on a big right hand but Mack slips the punch. Mack with the counter takedown but Martin avoids it easily. Martin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Mack counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Martin does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. A punch combination from Martin misses. Mack tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Nice shot lands for Mack. Martin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mack moves away. Mack throws a body shot but no joy. Mack tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Martin is able to avoid easily. Martin loads up on a big right hand but Mack slips the punch. We've been told by Martin's head coaches at Doherty's Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mack tries to bum rush Martin with a series of wild strikes but Martin uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Mack avoids the body shot from Martin.
Martin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mack appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Martin throws a body kick that misses. Mack feints the counter takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. A combination from Martin does no damage. Mack tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Martin fails to land with a series of punches.
A punch lands to the side of Mack 's head but he takes it in his stride. Mack throws out a loose jab but Martin uses good head movement to avoid it. Martin misses with a wild combination.
Mack looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Martin takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Martin swings for the body but Mack moves out of range.
Martin throws a body punch but Mack moves out of range. A little jabbing left from Mack on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Martin falls off balance throwing a combination
and Mack counters with a takedown into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mack in side control lands a decent elbow. Mack is working Martin over with some ground and pound from side control. Martin takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mack lands a strong strike to the head of Martin. That's dazed him! Mack looking to finish here. Martin is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Mack lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Charlie Mack! The defeated Mitch Martin had this to say: 'I swear I will be back and I will draw blood from another victim, this is not over Mitch Martin will return victorious.'.
