Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brandon Duran! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marcelo Silva! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Duran throws a body shot but no joy. Silva shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Duran manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Duran has his feet on Silva's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Silva has taken the fight to the clinch.
Silva is trying to pull guard but Duran turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Silva wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Duran tries to break the clinch but Silva is controlling the position. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Silva has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Duran is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Silva misses with a punch to the body.
Duran can't break the clinch.
Duran keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Silva's efforts to push away. Duran prevents Silva from breaking the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva is looking to take this one to the mat. Brandon Duran has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcelo Silva. Silva changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Duran fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Silva tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Silva shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Duran defends it nicely. Duran was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Brandon Duran is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Silva takes one to the chin there. Silva displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Duran scores with a hook. Silva moves to clinch but Duran breaks away and Duran counters with a lovely shot to the body. Duran throws a lazy right hand but Silva sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Duran throws a body punch but Silva moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Duran misses with a two punch combination.
Silva pivots, looking for a leg kick but Duran is out of range and Silva settles back down. Duran punishes Silva's body with a nice straight punch. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Silva. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Duran chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Silva can pounce on him.
Duran throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Silva has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Marcelo Silva has been cut. Silva looks winded! Silva steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Duran. Silva tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Silva has his takedown stuffed and Duran counters with a stiff right hand. Duran throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Duran lands with a nice combination. Silva backs away looking to recover. An inside leg kick lands from Silva.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva is looking to clinch but Duran is avoiding it.
Duran throws a right hand that Silva ducks under and follows up with a left that Silva also avoids with ease. A bone on bone clash there as Duran blocks the leg kick.

Duran defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Silva. Silva tries to clinch but Duran is having none of it. Duran went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. A good leg kick by Silva. Duran throws a series of punches but Silva moves out of range. Silva gets in close and instigates a clinch. A frustrated look appears on Silva's face as he tries to break the clinch. Silva tries to pull guard but Duran forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Silva looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Silva is trying to force a seperation but Duran has the dominant position. Silva is trying to pull guard but Duran turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Silva misses with an elbow over the top. Silva tries to circle away but Duran has him pinned against the cage. Duran wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Duran gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Silva.
Silva drops down looking for an ankle pick but Duran pulls his leg out and moves away.

Duran throws a hook to the side of Silva's head but Silva sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A combination from Duran does no damage. Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into Duran's guard. Duran has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Silva has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brandon Duran dominated that round. The cut man is working on Marcelo Silva's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Duran is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Silva can do to turn this around? Duran misses with a jab, cross combination.
Silva tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Duran tries to sprawl but Silva drives through with a takedown into half guard. Silva missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Silva lands with a punch from half guard. Silva content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Duran is refusing to be controlled, as Silva sits in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Duran misses with a series of wild punches.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duran tests Silva's chin there with a solid looking shot. Silva closes the distance but Duran moves to the side letting Duran counter with a right hand. Silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Duran wants to stand and escape but Silva is having none of it. Silva postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Silva throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Duran works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Silva must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Silva scoring with some ground and pound. Duran keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully. Duran wants to stand up but Silva is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Silva slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Brandon Duran is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Duran scores with a shot to the body.
Silva tries to bum rush Duran with a series of wild strikes but Duran uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Duran swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Duran throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. A low kick from Silva misses and Silva takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Silva has Duran up against the cage in a clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action! Silva pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duran throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Silva. Silva slips a straight right by Duran. Marcelo Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Silva fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Silva connects with an inside leg kick. Duran blocks a low kick nicely. Silva fails to land the takedown. It looked like Duran was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Duran throws out a loose jab but Silva uses good head movement to avoid it. Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Silva is breathing heavily. Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Duran keeps working. Marcelo Silva has got the better of the ground game so far. Duran is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Silva asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Silva tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Silva creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Duran sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Silva stands up and beckons Duran to his feet. Silva bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Silva tries a head kick but it misses.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Silva lands a head kick!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Marcelo Silva will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Marcelo Silva's cut. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Silva dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Duran. That did some damage! Silva is looking to slow Duran down with leg kicks. Silva throws a front kick that sends Duran stumbling back into the cage. Silva connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Duran swats him away and circles back towards the center. Silva tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Duran went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Duran on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Silva. Silva obviously looking to wear him down.
Duran is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Silva. Duran avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Duran goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Silva throws a leg kick but Duran checks it. It looked like Duran wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Silva takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Duran displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Silva does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Duran throws a nice looking combination but Silva bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Silva with a poor takedown and Silva takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Brandon Duran has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcelo Silva. Silva walks into a straight right hand from Duran. Silva dives in and scores a takedown into Duran's guard. Silva decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Duran misses with a jab, cross combination.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Silva.

Duran is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Silva throws a leg kick that misses. Duran misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Duran lands with a nice combination. Silva backs away looking to recover. Silva throws a right hand that Duran ducks under and follows up with a left that Duran also avoids with ease. Duran is looking for a counter combo. Silva misses with a low kick. Silva misses with an attempted mid kick.

Duran lands a nice hook to Silva's body. Silva takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Silva shoots in for a takedown but Duran shows good takedown defense.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duran throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Silva stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Silva fails to land the takedown. Duran misses with a few strikes there.
Duran swings for the body but Silva moves out of range.
Duran fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Silva manages to avoid it. Silva scoring well with a low kick there.
Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Duran manages to escape and get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Some wild striking there from Duran.
Horrible takedown attempt by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Duran, which made it look bad. Duran throws a body punch but Silva moves out of range. Silva is looking for the big counter here. Duran swings for the body but Silva moves out of range.

Sloppy strikes from Duran. Those never looked like landing. Silva shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Duran napping and manages to drive through into side control! Duran sneaks out the side door and pushes Silva away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Duran lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Silva circles away quickly and effectively.
And that's the end of the fight! Brandon Duran showed his dominance in that final round. I think Duran has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
