Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Penn closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Machin did well to prevent Penn getting side control. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Penn (2) vs (0) Machin Penn is looking for a kimura but Machin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Penn to get the leverage. Machin is trying to get back to full guard. Penn is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Machin is just riding it out for now. Penn eventually gives up the hold. Penn is trying to work for a kimura but Machin is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Penn is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's one minute gone in the round. Machin trying to hold on to Penn's head to control him but Penn postures up.
Penn trying to control the action but Machin is working from the bottom. Penn has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Machin defend it? Penn steps over the head and cranks it - Machin is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Penn!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Luke Penn! |
