PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Allen (ranked 2281 p4p, 206 weight class) and Moses Makwame (ranked 4903 p4p, 364 weight class). Makwame has chosen House of Pain - Jump Around as his entrance music. Moses Makwame is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bruce Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Moses Makwame!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Valeri Chadov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Makwame closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Allen wants the takedown. Makwame is fighting it off but Allen persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Makwame's guard against the cage.
Makwame wants to sweep here but Allen controlling him for the moment.

Makwame escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Allen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Makwame had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Allen defends it easily.
Allen keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Makwame's head.
Allen distracts Makwame with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Allen stands up from Makwame's guard - Allen perhaps looking for a knockout.

and Makwame cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Makwame scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Makwame tries to score with some ground and pound. Allen controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Allen manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Makwame manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Allen on his heels. He'll look to pass Allen's guard now, I'm sure.
Makwame wants to control from the top but Allen keeps moving.

Makwame closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Bruce Allen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Makwame wants to lay and pray for a moment but Allen keeps working.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Allen won't allow Makwame to pass to mount.

Makwame must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Makwame might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Allen haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Allen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Allen closes the distance and clinches up with Makwame, looking for a takedown. Allen pushes Makwame against the cage but Makwame circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Allen seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Moses Makwame seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Allen shoots in for a takedown but Makwame shows good takedown defense.

Makwame steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Allen.

and Allen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Makwame won't be happy with that.

Allen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Makwame doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Allen.

Allen stands up over Makwame, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Makwame really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Allen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Allen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Makwame has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Allen has managed to get both his arms back between Makwame's legs - danger averted.
