Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Kay (ranked 2921 p4p, 245 weight class) and Marcos Santana (ranked 2651 p4p, 225 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brandon Kay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcos Santana! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santana has a takedown stuffed. As Santana tries to get set, Kay tries to push him back and clinch up but Santana manages to avoid the attempt. Santana shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kay defends it nicely. Santana fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kay feinted with a counter takedown. Brandon Kay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcos Santana. Santana drives through and clinches with Kay against the cage.
Kay looking for a takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kay has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Santana after a bit of a struggle. Santana gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kay has hold of Santana's hands but Santana slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kay keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Santana is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kay defends it well. Kay is looking to control Santana's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kay avoid being mounted? Kay is holding on to half guard well. Kay is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Santana scores with a couple of nice shots. Santana looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Santana sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kay defending well though. Santana stops Kay from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kay avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Santana. Kay wants to get back to his feet.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Santana connects with a nice short shot to Kay's temple. Kay is holding on to half guard well. Santana throwing shots but Kay is blocking nicely. Santana sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kay defending well though. Santana trying to control from Kay's half guard. Kay has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Santana lands a couple of digs. Santana pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kay is keeping the position for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santana seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Santana sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kay's guard. Santana is trying to control. Kay wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Santana sitting and controlling from the half guard. Kay is not content to let Santana control the position. Santana has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Woods. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Santana not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Santana lands with a punch from half guard. Santana is just content to waste time from the top position. Kay takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Santana is looking to work some ground and pound but Kay has wrist control. Kay keeping moving, preventing Santana from controlling successfully. Santana connects with a couple of short punches. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Santana trying to control but Kay is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcos Santana dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Santana shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kay defends it nicely. Santana scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Kay is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Santana in side control, throwing shots but Kay defends. Santana fails to land a wild elbow strike.

That's one minute gone in the round. Santana lands a few punches from side control. Kay dodges the ground and pound from Santana. Santana tries to move to mount but Kay blocks the move with his legs. The ground and pound from Santana seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Santana is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kay has escaped the position, nice work there. Santana in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Santana tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Santana has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Santana slows the pace down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kay struggling a bit here. Santana goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kay has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Santana but great work by Kay. Kay working the head and body with strikes. Kay postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Kay lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Santana is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Kay is trying to ground and pound but Santana uses the momentary lack of control by Kay to regain half guard. Santana manages to get to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santana had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kay defends it easily. Santana looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kay working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Santana is rocked! Kay trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Santana has momentary wrist control but Kay slips an elbow through the middle. Santana is still in real trouble! Can Kay finish him? A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kay accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Santana wants to sweep here but Kay controlling him for the moment. Kay landing some decent shots from guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kay arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Santana's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Brandon Kay! Brandon Kay bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
