Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Takeru Kubota (ranked 596 p4p, 25 weight class) and Alexander Laird (ranked 2973 p4p, 135 weight class). Kubota comes to the cage accompanied by Devilman No Uta. Takeru Kubota has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Takeru Kubota! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alexander Laird! The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Darius Henderson and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laird throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kubota. Laird is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kubota. Kubota throws a quick counter kick to the body but Laird avoids it. A slapping body kick lands there for Kubota. Laird looks to land a right hand but Kubota moved out of range. Kubota lands a nice shot that snaps Laird's head back.
Takeru Kubota seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kubota slips under a jab from Laird. Laird looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Kubota lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Laird pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Kubota wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Laird misses with a body shot.
Laird takes one to the side of the head.
Laird comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Laird moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Laird thuds his right hand into Kubota's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Kubota connects with a solid leg kick. Kubota misses with a hook. Laird ducked under it nicely. Kubota buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Laird avoids the body shot from Kubota.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kubota ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Laird checks the leg kick nicely there.
Jab from Kubota. Laird checks a leg kick. Laird with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Kubota to score with a decent uppercut. It looks like Kubota has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Laird fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Kubota moves out of range as Laird strikes. Kubota tests Laird's chin there with a solid looking shot. Kubota staying out of range there. Laird just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromKubota. Kubota looks for the body kick but Laird saw that one coming. Kubota sets himself, and Laird steps forward looking for the clinch! Kubota avoids it this time. Kubota scores with a body shot.
Laird takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Laird fails in his attempt to clinch. As Laird backs away, Kubota returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. The fighters circling - Kubota throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Kubota scores with a crisp jab that stopped Laird in his tracks. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kubota swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kubota connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Laird momentarily.
Kubota turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice straight punches there by Kubota. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kubota. Kubota connects with an inside leg kick. Laird looks to throw the jab but Kubota is out of range. Laird misses with a looping left. Kubota is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Laird. Laird throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A head kick misses from Kubota. Kubota throws a leg kick but Laird checks it. Kubota lands a nice leg kick that just misses Laird's sensitive parts. Kubota moves away from the strike by Laird. Kubota scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Laird lands a nice looking body shot.
Laird thows a left - swing and a miss! A telegraphed right hand from Laird misses the target. Laird looks to score with a jab to the body but Kubota is just out of range. Laird misses with an uppercut. Kubota saw that one coming.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kubota is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Laird. Kubota plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Laird is rocked! Kubota circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Laird to the canvas! Laird doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Kubota keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Takeru Kubota! Takeru Kubota is the new bantamweight champion! Takeru Kubota decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
