PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vini Sixers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes to the cage accompanied by Face the Pain. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vini Sixers!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sixers has managed to clinch.
Sixers wants a takedown.
Smith is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sixers gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Sixers drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Smith gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Smith is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Sixers is keeping busy.
Smith unloads a knee to the mid-section. Sixers lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Smith throws a knee to the head but misses.
Smith is trying to break free.
Sixers drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ryan Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vini Sixers.

Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Horrible takedown by Smith or perhaps it was just good defense by Sixers which made him look bad.
Sixers slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Smith rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sixers moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sixers has a takedown stuffed.
Sixers tries to clinch there but Smith circles away.

Sixers goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Sixers tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Smith wants to land a leg kick but Sixers is out of range.
Sixers throws a head kick that misses.

Sixers has Smith up against the cage in a clinch.
Smith is looking to break free of the clinch but Sixers has double underhooks.
Smith is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Smith wants to stall.

Sixers jumps guard and drags Smith to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Sixers looking for a sweep. Not yet Sixers, not yet.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Sixers is keeping the position.

Sixers had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Smith is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sixers Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Smith's back instead.
Smith is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Sixers lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Smith hold on?!
Smith has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Sixers looking to soften up his opponent with punches.

Smith trying to get back to his feet but Sixers is in full control for now.
Smith is in bad spot here.

Sixers has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Sixers tries to get the hooks in deep but Smith pushed the leg off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sixers doesn't have the hooks in and Smith manages to turn into his guard.
Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Sixers is retaining full guard.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Sixers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sixers not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Smith controls from within his opponent's guard.
Smith trying to control but Sixers is working from the bottom.
Smith stopping the sweep attempt from Sixers.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vini Sixers dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Smith closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Sixers changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sixers trying to control the position but Smith is working away.
Sixers in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Smith is trying to improve his position.

Sixers wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smith, who protects the arm well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith wants to control but Sixers postures up.

Sixers tries for a kimura but Smith is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sixers tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The strikes coming from Sixers are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Sixers thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Smith is being controlled here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Smith is looking to regain half guard here but Sixers keeps moving and retains side control.

Sixers decides to stand back up. Sixers steps back and let's Smith get back to his feet.

Smith clinches with his opponent.
Smith looking to throw knees to the head but Sixers is blocking nicely.
Come on Sixers - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Sixers prevents Smith from breaking the clinch.
Smith tries for a takedown. No joy.
Sixers wants a takedown but no success here.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smith shoots and misses

and Sixers counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Smith's guard now.
Sixers throwing strikes but missing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Smith working a defensive guard but Sixers manages to pass into side control anyway.
Smith tries to improve position but can't.

Sixers has hold of Smith's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Smith tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Sixers cranks the arm and Smith screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Smith, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Vini Sixers!
