Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Odis Hancock! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, al Costa! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Columbo Gatti and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hancock throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Costa looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Costa is taking a breather. Hancock says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Hancock actively working from the bottom here. Costa throwing shots but Hancock is blocking nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Costa blocks the strikes from Hancock.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hancock strikes from the bottom but Costa uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Hancock misses with an elbow from the bottom. Hancock tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Costa wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Hancock is working hard here to advance position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Costa is staying tight to Hancock's torso, preventing him from escaping.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Hancock gets tackled into the cage by Costa. Costa maintains the clinch. Hancock is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Hancock tries to pull guard but Costa won't allow it.
Hancock breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Costa closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hancock to the mat! Hancock manages to get full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hancock throws his legs up looking for a submission but Costa uses it to pass to side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hancock prevents Costa from improving position. Hancock tries to strike from the bottom but misses. Costa is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Let's hope that Costa has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Costa looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Costa is looking to take a break and control but Hancock is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. al Costa dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Costa shoots in and bounces Hancock off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Hancock throws a couple of heel strikes.
Costa is looking to work some ground and pound but Hancock has wrist control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hancock is striking off his back. Costa thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard. Costa controlling the action here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hancock is refusing to be controlled, as Costa sits in half guard. Hancock flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Hancock really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Hancock wants to improve his position but Costa is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Costa looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Costa stalling. Hancock misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Hancock is looking to improve his position.
Hancock throws a strike from the bottom but Costa passes into side control!
Costa has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hancock is not content to let Costa control the position. Hancock takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Hancock tries to strike from the bottom but misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Costa happy to just control the position for now. Costa has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Hancock! Costa takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Costa prevents Hancock from getting the reversal. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hancock throwing punches despite being mounted. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
al Costa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Hancock gets caught napping as Costa dives in and scores a takedown. Hancock manages to retain guard. al Costa has got the better of the ground game so far. Costa looking to sit in guard and control but Hancock gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Hancock wants to stand but Costa is controlling his posture from full guard. Costa is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Costa looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hancock wants to get up but he can't break Costa's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Costa controls Hancock momentarily but Hancock frees himself. Hancock stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Costa swivels though and keeps the full guard. Costa is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Hancock trying to control but Costa is working from the bottom. Costa trying to keep a closed guard but Hancock is proving a slippery customer.

Costa's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Hancock trying to control but Costa is working from the bottom. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hancock working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Costa's head. Odis Hancock has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! al Costa is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Hancock working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
And that's the end of the fight! al Costa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Costa winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
