Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Sabo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Abdulrashid Sadulaev! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Dean Styles and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sabo throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Sabo connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Sadulaev momentarily.
Sabo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A nice combination there by Sabo.
Sabo lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Sabo moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Sadulaev clinches. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sadulaev works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Sabo wants to stand but Sadulaev is controlling the position. Sadulaev distracts Sabo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Sadulaev pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sabo is keeping the position for now. Sadulaev advances to half guard. Sadulaev working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Sadulaev working over Sabo with some ground and pound. Sabo looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Sabo pushes Sadulaev off looking to stand but Sadulaev dives back in and keeps control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sadulaev trying to control the pace. Sabo looks like he's trying to stand up.
Sabo won't allow Sadulaev to pass to mount. Still in half guard, Sadulaev seems content to control. Sadulaev drops an elbow to the side of Sabo's head. Sabo has hold of Sadulaev's hands but Sadulaev slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Sadulaev is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Sadulaev controlling his opponent. A big strike lands for Sadulaev! That's really hurt Sabo and he's turned his back - Sadulaev keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Sadulaev jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Abdulrashid Sadulaev! Abdulrashid Sadulaev made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying '*Some Russian bullshit*'.
