Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Devin Alvis (ranked 5155 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Court (ranked 25437 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvis's entrance music is God’s plan. A fine choice. Devin Alvis has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Devin Alvis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Danny Court!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvis wants to clinch.
Court looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Court feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Court gets to his feet. Alvis looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Alvis misses with a takedown attempt - Court sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alvis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Court tries to avoid it but Alvis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Court to the ground. Court escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Court looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Alvis.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Devin Alvis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Court fails in his attempt to clinch.
Alvis seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Alvis throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Danny Court has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alvis fails with the takedown.
Alvis tries to clinch but Court is having none of it.
Alvis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Court tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Alvis was well out of range. Poor timing from Court.

Court fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Alvis to the ground. Court is now in Alvis's guard.
Alvis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Alvis controls Court momentarily but Court frees himself.
Alvis pulls Court in close to prevent any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alvis wants to sweep but no luck.
Court makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Alvis is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Alvis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Court is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Court stands and steps away. Alvis gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Alvis doesn't manage to clinch there - Court circles away.
Alvis leaves Court with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Alvis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Court is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Alvis's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Court is looking to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Court regains full guard. Nicely done.
Alvis trying to stand up but can't free himself from Court's guard.

Court is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Alvis rolls with it to try and escape but Court cranks on the arm and Alvis is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Danny Court!
