Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Norifumi Yamamoto (ranked 4037 p4p, 432 weight class) and Ray Diaz (ranked 5601 p4p, 513 weight class). Diaz has chosen Represent - Nas as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Norifumi Yamamoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ray Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Yamamoto circles away quickly and effectively.
Yamamoto swings for the body but Diaz moves out of range.
Diaz throws out a powerful jab.
Diaz throws a left and a right that both miss

and Yamamoto counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Yamamoto is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Diaz wants to stand and escape but Yamamoto is having none of it.
Yamamoto passes Diaz's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Yamamoto is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Diaz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Yamamoto.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Yamamoto is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Yamamoto works his way into side control.

Yamamoto tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Yamamoto has hold of Diaz's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Diaz seems comfortable defending it but Yamamoto has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Diaz is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Diaz is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Yamamoto couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Norifumi Yamamoto!
During a confident post fight interview, Norifumi Yamamoto thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
Ray Diaz spoke after the fight, saying 'They can't have a motherfucker like me win. I'm too real for this shit. '.
