Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Clay Kessel (ranked 6881 p4p, 541 weight class) and James Freeman (ranked 25292 p4p, 595 weight class). James Freeman will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Clay Kessel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Freeman! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Michael Johnstone and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kessel darts in and clinches Freeman up against the cage. Freeman fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from Freeman fails to land. Kessel successfully pulls guard.
Freeman tries to stand but Kessel is controlling from the bottom. Freeman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kessel is keeping the position for now. Kessel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Freeman defends well. Freeman trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kessel's guard. Kessel is controlling Freeman's posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Freeman tries to stand but Kessel is controlling from the bottom. Freeman stops Kessel from standing up. Kessel looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kessel is breathing heavily. Freeman is looking to stand up but Kessel won't let him.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's one minute gone in the round. Freeman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Freeman moves in looking to clinch but Kessel pushes him off. Kessel drops down looking for a counter takedown but Freeman sprawls and moves away. Freeman closes the distance but Kessel moves to the side and Kessel counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Freeman looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Freeman actively working from the bottom here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kessel keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Freeman wants to get back to full guard. Kessel moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Freeman. Freeman tries to bench press Kessel off him but Kessel keeps the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Freeman regains half guard. Freeman is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kessel pulls his head out easily. Kessel scores with a couple of good hammerfists. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kessel is trying to control the action in half guard but Freeman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Kessel trying to pass the guard but Freeman defending well. Freeman has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Kessel escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Kessel! Freeman is trying to get back to half guard. Kessel cracks Freeman with a big right hand but Freeman just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Kessel scores with punches from side control. Freeman tries to bench press Kessel off him but Kessel keeps the position. Kessel trying to control the action but Freeman is working from the bottom. Kessel thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Freeman is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Freeman keeps trying to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Freeman is still trying to improve position. Freeman is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Freeman actively working from the bottom here. Freeman has hold of Kessel's hands but Kessel slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Still in half guard, Kessel seems content to control. Freeman looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Kessel is trying to control the action in half guard but Freeman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Freeman actively working from the bottom here. Freeman looking for submissions off his back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Freeman wants to clinch. Kessel shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Freeman's guard. Kessel passes Freeman's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Freeman looking for submissions off his back. Freeman is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kessel pulls his head out easily. Kessel is trying to get an arm triangle but Freeman is defending well. Clay Kessel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Freeman tries to buck Kessel off but Kessel is having none of it.

Kessel is looking to control Freeman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kessel avoid being mounted? Freeman seems to be looking for submissions.
Freeman seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Freeman prevents Kessel from improving his position. Freeman wants to stand up but Kessel is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Freeman seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Kessel is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
