Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alex Parker (ranked 1760 p4p, 220 weight class) and Moonlight Maze (ranked 1825 p4p, 231 weight class). Maze is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by For Heavy Metal we will die!. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alex Parker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Moonlight Maze!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maze swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Parker avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Maze pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Parker appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

and Parker counters with a nice leg kick.
Parker uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Maze.
Maze uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Parker has time to react.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Maze has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Parker uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Maze.
Maze is trying hard to land a takedown here. Parker sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Maze dives in for a single leg takedown but Parker sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Maze feints and as Parker raises his hands in defense, Maze changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Maze manages to get himself to full guard.

Maze wants to control the position but Parker says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Maze is looking for a sweep. Parker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Maze looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Parker pushes past his half guard into mount!
Maze is desperately trying to improve his position but Parker has a good base and remains in mount.

Maze tries to hold on but Parker pushes him away.
Parker manages to capitalize on a mistake by Maze to take his back!
Parker is hanging on to Maze's back as he tries to escape.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Maze turns into Parker and is now in his guard.
Maze stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Parker swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Parker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Parker can't keep his opponent in guard - Maze advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Well, if Maze is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Parker looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Maze postures up in Parker's guard and throws a big left but Parker blocks it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Maze working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Parker's head.
Parker is pulling down on Maze's head. It's preventing any offense from Maze, at least for the moment.
Maze postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Parker has control of Maze's left arm, preventing Maze from doing any damage.
Parker looking to hit a scissor sweep but Maze is one step ahead there.

Parker has momentary wrist control but Maze slips an elbow through the middle.

Parker is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Moonlight Maze dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Maze tries to bum rush Parker with a series of wild strikes but Parker uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Parker thuds his shin into the meat of Maze's side.

Moonlight Maze seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Maze cracks Parker with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Maze swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Parker.
Parker swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Parker looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Parker throws a wild body kick that Maze sees coming a mile off.
Maze throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Parker.
Maze is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Parker.

Maze closes the distance and clinches up with Parker, looking for a takedown. Maze pushes Parker against the cage but Parker circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Maze lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Maze throws a jab but it's blocked by Parker.
It looked like Parker was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Horrible takedown attempt by Maze or perhaps it was just good defense by Parker, which made it look bad.

Parker fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Maze.

Maze might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Moonlight Maze showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Moonlight Maze comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Maze has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Moonlight Maze spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
