The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Drake.

It looks like Frankie Patterson has been cut.
Drake looks to throw a body kick
so Patterson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Drake wants to get back to his feet but Patterson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Patterson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Drake trying to keep a closed guard but Patterson is proving a slippery customer.
Patterson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Drake's head.
Drake escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Patterson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Drake is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Patterson is trying to trip Drake. He has hold of a leg but Drake is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Patterson persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Drake is looking to stand back up but Patterson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Drake.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Patterson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Drake is wriggling around but Patterson manages to pass to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Patterson winds up and cracks Drake with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

That's time! Patterson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Drake misses with an uppercut. Patterson saw that one coming.
Patterson rushes Drake and presses him up against the cage.
Patterson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Drake to keep the fight standing.
Patterson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Drake regains guard immediately.
Drake can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Patterson controls the pace.
Patterson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Drake can do to turn this around?

Drake content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Patterson has locked up a guillotine! Patterson's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Drake is holding on here and Patterson must be using up a lot of energy. Drake has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Patterson gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
