Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Didier Misalooba (ranked 2290 p4p, 260 weight class) and Rogerio De Souza (ranked 2382 p4p, 286 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Misalooba might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Beyond the Black. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Misalooba displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from De Souza.

De Souza shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Misalooba pinned against the cage. Misalooba gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Misalooba tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

De Souza ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Misalooba moves away.

De Souza avoids the elbow strike from Misalooba, against the cage.

De Souza looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
De Souza jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Misalooba walks away with a smile on his face. De Souza gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Misalooba is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Misalooba thuds his right hand into De Souza's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Misalooba scores with the left hand. De Souza knows he should have avoided that one.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
De Souza slips a straight right by Misalooba.
De Souza lands a lovely overhand right.

We've been told by Misalooba's head coaches at Training Center that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Misalooba throws a head kick that De Souza semi-blocks.
De Souza throws a hook to the side of Misalooba's head but Misalooba sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Misalooba throws a counter high kick but De Souza was just alert enough to avoid it.
De Souza moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

De Souza takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Misalooba bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

A relieved looking Didier Misalooba thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
