PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Kerr (ranked 374 p4p, 54 weight class) and Heavy Rain (ranked 395 p4p, 58 weight class). Rain has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music. Heavy Rain will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Kerr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Heavy Rain!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kerr throws a good cross that connects.
Rain scores with a push kick.
Rain tries to bum rush Kerr with a series of wild strikes but Kerr uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rain. Kerr does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rain fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Kerr checks it well.
Kerr lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rain circles away quickly and effectively.

Kerr is trying to drag Rain to the mat but Rain just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Rain's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rain is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

It looks like Heavy Rain has been cut.

Kerr changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rain looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Rain has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

That was a close round but I would say that Mark Kerr will probably get the nod.

Rain looks to score with a jab to the body but Kerr is just out of range.
The crowd cheers as Rain lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kerr doesn't seem phased though.
Rain has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kerr connects with a nice short shot to Rain's temple.
Rain is looking for a sweep. Kerr is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rain holds on and takes a little breather.
Rain has momentary wrist control but Kerr slips an elbow through the middle.
Kerr throws an elbow that misses. Rain uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kerr's guard. Nice move by Rain!

After the fight, Heavy Rain was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
