Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Salazar (ranked 1765 p4p, 254 weight class) and Mickey Sapolu (ranked 2142 p4p, 292 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Salazar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mickey Sapolu! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Salazar connects with a body shot that sends Sapolu's belly button to the back. Michael Salazar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sapolu throws a body kick that misses and Salazar counters with a nice uppercut. A nice leg kick lands there from Sapolu. A decent looking body kick lands there for Salazar. Salazar blocks a head kick by Sapolu.
Salazar throws a body punch but Sapolu moves out of range. Sapolu thinks about the counter body kick. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Salazar, right into the meat.
Sapolu throws a body kick that misses. A good leg kick by Sapolu. Salazar connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Sapolu's hands.
It looks like Mickey Sapolu has been cut. A nice inside leg kick there by Salazar. That's going to slow Sapolu down. Salazar does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. A thudding body kick lands there by Sapolu!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Salazar scores with a nice strike. Sapolu swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Sapolu throws a sloppy head kick and Salazar moves out of range easily. Salazar lands with an overhand left. Sapolu takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Sapolu throws a leg kick but Salazar sees it coming and moves out of range. Sapolu tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Sapolu blocks a jab. Sapolu throws a low kick but it's checked well by Salazar. Salazar quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Sapolu looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Sapolu dives in and grabs Salazar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Salazar pushes down on Sapolu's head and hops out. Sapolu walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Sapolu with a poor takedown and Salazar counters with a straight right hand. Salazar scores with a jab to the body. Good standup being displayed there by Salazar as he connects with a hook. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Salazar scores with a slapping inside leg kick. A looping hook to the body misses from Salazar. Sapolu does a little dance to reset his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sapolu with a lazy takedown attempt and Salazar counters with a thumping low kick. Michael Salazar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mickey Sapolu. Sapolu fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Salazar avoids it really well and circles away. It looks like Salazar has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Salazar with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Sapolu throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Salazar. A shot to the body from Sapolu misses and Salazar counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. A head kick misses from Sapolu. Sapolu tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Salazar lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Salazar throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Sapolu shapes to counter with a head kick. Sapolu throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Sapolu tries to bum rush Salazar with a series of wild strikes but Salazar uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Salazar checks a low kick from Sapolu. It looked like Salazar wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Michael Salazar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Salazar feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Sapolu's calf. Sapolu misses with a takedown attempt - Salazar sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Sapolu misses with a low kick as Salazar jumps back. Salazar connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Salazar just misses with a punch to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Salazar moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Salazar moves into the clinch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sapolu has had enough of the clinch but Salazar keeps him there for the moment. Salazar presses Sapolu against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Sapolu's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Sapolu can't break the clinch.

Salazar lands a nice looking body kick. Sapolu looks winded! The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. A slapping body kick lands there for Salazar. Sapolu misses with a series of wild punches.

Salazar lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Sapolu. Salazar thuds his right hand into Sapolu's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Sapolu doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Sapolu fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Salazar scores with a sloppy right hand. Sapolu should have avoided that one. Salazar connects with a leg kick. Sapolu looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Sapolu throws a series of punches but Salazar avoids them all with ease. Sapolu throws a leg kick but Salazar sees it coming and moves out of range. Salazar lands a nice shot that snaps Sapolu's head back.

Salazar darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Sapolu is still on wobbly legs! Can Salazar finish him? Sapolu falls off balance throwing a combination
and Salazar counters with a huge right that knocks Sapolu out cold! Salazar is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Michael Salazar! Michael Salazar decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
