PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Goodman (ranked 6137 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marel Alic (ranked 7536 p4p, 0 weight class). Alic has chosen Dragan Savic-Muska Kurva as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alic closes this distance looking for a takedown but Goodman circles away.
Goodman shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alic cracks Goodman with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Alic closes the distance and pushes Goodman back into the cage.
Goodman has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Alic after a bit of a struggle.

Goodman shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Goodman showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Alic kicks off Goodman and gets to his feet.

Goodman tried to counter with a leg kick but Alic avoided it.

Goodman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Goodman stands and steps away. Alic gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Goodman decides to stand up, so the ref orders Alic to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Alic uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Goodman has time to react.

A close second round but Marel Alic will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Goodman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Alic changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Goodman tries to avoid it but Alic manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Goodman to the ground. Goodman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Alic escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Goodman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Goodman stands up from Alic's guard - Goodman perhaps looking for a knockout.

Alic shoots in looking for a takedown but Goodman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Alic's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Alic enables Goodman to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Alic manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Alic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Goodman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Goodman drops back, looking for a kneebar! Alic looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Alic looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Alic!

Goodman is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Alic is defending well though. Goodman let's go of the attempt for now.

Goodman is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Alic knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Alic for a finish.

I would just about give that final round to Marel Alic.
Well Alic has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Marel Alic spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
