Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Neville Southall (ranked 1842 p4p, 229 weight class) and William Chandler (ranked 1804 p4p, 227 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Neville Southall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, William Chandler!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Columbo Gatti and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chandler cracks the inside of Southall's front leg.
Chandler throws a right and a left that both miss.
Southall tries to score with a low kick but Chandler moves his leg out of the way.
Southall throws a body shot but no joy.
Southall ducks under a wild hook from Chandler.
Chandler lands a slapping body shot.

Southall closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Chandler is taking a breather. Southall says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Southall will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Chandler's corner calls for a 1-2. Chandler obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.


It looks like Neville Southall has been cut.

Chandler throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A nice inside leg kick there by Chandler. That's going to slow Southall down.
Chandler lands with an uppercut that bounces Southall off the cage and back into range.

Chandler throws out a loose jab but Southall uses good head movement to avoid it.
William Chandler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Southall thuds his right hand into Chandler's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Southall throws a quick inside leg kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Southall crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Chandler - the referee stops the clock and Southall gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Chandler. Southall manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Southall wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Southall dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Chandler. That did some damage!

Chandler is pulling down on Southall's head. It's preventing any offense from Southall, at least for the moment.

That was a close second round but I would say that Neville Southall will probably get the nod.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

I would just about give that final round to William Chandler.
I think Chandler has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
