Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Willie Wood (ranked 1199 p4p, 150 weight class) and Gennady Mikhasevich (ranked 1211 p4p, 153 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Willie Wood! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gennady Mikhasevich! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Columbo Gatti and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wood's jab looks to have found its range, popping Mikhasevich under the eye. Wood misses with a low kick.
Mikhasevich is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Wood lands a nice hook to Mikhasevich's body. Mikhasevich takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Mikhasevich has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Wood avoids a kick to the body.
Wood throws a head kick that half lands.
Mikhasevich throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Wood counters with a right hand to the body. Wood fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mikhasevich manages to avoid it. Mikhasevich lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Wood scores with a nice strike. Mikhasevich lands a body shot.
Wood scores with a spinning back kick! A punch lands to the side of Mikhasevich 's head but he takes it in his stride. Wood is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wood misses the shot to the body. Wood connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mikhasevich momentarily.
The fighters circling - Mikhasevich throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Mikhasevich keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Wood. A little jabbing left from Mikhasevich on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mikhasevich throws a jab but it's blocked by Wood. Mikhasevich slips a jab from Wood. Wood is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Wood is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Wood throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mikhasevich throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Wood swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Nice shot lands for Wood. Mikhasevich slips under a jab from Wood. Mikhasevich throws a right hand that misses
and Wood counters with a slapping leg kick. Mikhasevich looks to land a right hand but Wood moved out of range. Wood looks to throw the jab but Mikhasevich is out of range. Mikhasevich scores with a punch to the head. Wood throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mikhasevich stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wood blocks a leg kick. A counter left hand to the body from Wood misses its target. Mikhasevich checks a leg kick. Wood swings for the body but Mikhasevich moves out of range.
Wood pivots, looking for a leg kick but Mikhasevich is out of range and Wood settles back down. Wood scores with a leg kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wood comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Mikhasevich throws a big shot that misses. Mikhasevich avoids the body shot from Wood.
Wood gets in close and instigates a clinch. Mikhasevich jumps guard and drags Wood to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mikhasevich working for a triangle but Wood defends it easily.
Wood knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mikhasevich on the ground. Mikhasevich looking for a triangle here. Wood is fighting it but it looks tight! Mikhasevich pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Wood is tapping out - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Gennady Mikhasevich! A relieved looking Gennady Mikhasevich thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
