PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Finnigan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stanley Goodspeed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Finnigan comes into the arena with In Flames-Quiet Place blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mickey Finnigan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stanley Goodspeed! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Goodspeed swats away the attempt to clinch by Finnigan. Finnigan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Finnigan jumps guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Goodspeed slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Finnigan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Goodspeed is controlling him. Goodspeed wants to control from the top but Finnigan keeps moving. Finnigan throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Finnigan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Goodspeed prevents Finnigan from getting back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Finnigan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Finnigan is looking to stand up but Goodspeed isn't so interested in that idea.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Goodspeed bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Finnigan! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

That's one minute gone in the round. Goodspeed seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Goodspeed trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Goodspeed lands a couple of decent looking shots. Goodspeed in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Goodspeed tries to free his leg and advance position but Finnigan is retaining full guard. Finnigan wants to stand up but Goodspeed is controlling him. Finnigan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Goodspeed throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Finnigan works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Finnigan shoots in but Goodspeed avoids the takedown attempt easily. The fight stays on the outside here - Finnigan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Finnigan tries to clinch there but Goodspeed circles away.
Goodspeed connects with a stiff jab that staggers Finnigan - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
