Vitalli comes to the cage accompanied by i kill cause im hungry. Gracie has chosen Thriller by Michael Jackson as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Vincenzo Vitalli had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vitalli slips under a jab from Gracie.
Gracie slips a straight right by Vitalli.
Gracie connects with a leg kick. Vitalli looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Vitalli ducks under a wild hook from Gracie.
Vitalli is looking to counter punch.
Vitalli is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
The crowd cheers as Gracie lands an impressive looking overhand right. Vitalli doesn't seem phased though.
Gracie scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Vitalli doesn't seem bothered though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie is looking for a kimura but Vitalli is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gracie to get the leverage.

Gracie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vitalli defends it well.
Vitalli avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gracie.
Gracie is keen to just control but Vitalli is a slippery customer.
Gracie is stalling here. Vitalli is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Gracie seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Vitalli has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Gracie is trying to control Vitalli's posture but Vitalli avoids it.
Gracie tries to buck Vitalli off but Vitalli is having none of it.
Gracie is not content to let Vitalli control the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gracie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Vitalli wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Vitalli is looking to take a break and control but Gracie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Vitalli looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

A close round but John Wayne Gracie will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Gracie clobbers Vitalli with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Vitalli looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Vitalli throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Gracie counters with a straight right hand.
John Wayne Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gracie. Vitalli does a little dance to reset his feet.
Good leg kick by Gracie there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Gracie throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
A slow jab from Gracie misses its intended target.
Vitalli seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Gracie throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Vitalli counters with a nice uppercut.

Gracie shapes to counter with a head kick.
Gracie with a nice cross.
Gracie misses with a body shot.
Gracie misses with a hook. Vitalli ducked under it nicely.
Vitalli scores with a sloppy right hand. Gracie should have avoided that one.
Vitalli with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Gracie to score with a decent uppercut.
Vitalli avoids the body shot from Gracie.
Gracie throws a lazy head kick
and Vitalli counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gracie avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gracie connects with the punch.

Vincenzo Vitalli is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gracie cracks Vitalli's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Vitalli slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Gracie can do further damage! This one is done, son!
