Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phil Halls!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alpo Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martinez moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Phil Halls has been cut.

Martinez drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.


Halls is rocked!
Martinez passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Halls is looking for a sweep.

Martinez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Halls is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Martinez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Martinez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Halls is looking to regain half guard here but Martinez keeps moving and retains side control.
Martinez tries to move to mount but Halls blocks the move with his legs.
Halls wants to get back to his feet.

Martinez advances nicely into full mount.
Martinez lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Martinez punching from mount but Halls doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Halls can't escape the position.
Halls is working hard here to advance position.
Halls prevents any damage by holding on tight.
Martinez trying to control but Halls is having none of it.

Martinez is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Halls to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Halls shrugs it off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Martinez is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Halls is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Halls flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Martinez anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Halls and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Martinez slips an arm under Halls chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Martinez has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Martinez is squeezing on Halls like an anaconda would it's prey. Halls fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Alpo Martinez!
