PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mohsin Zaidi (ranked 579 p4p, 88 weight class) and Bobby Wangler (ranked 662 p4p, 104 weight class). Wangler has chosen The Clash - I Fought The Law as his entrance music. Mohsin Zaidi is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mohsin Zaidi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bobby Wangler!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Chad Campbell and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wangler displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Zaidi.

Wangler misses with a wild body shot.
Zaidi lands with a nice body kick.
Zaidi throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Good shot there by Zaidi.
Wangler lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Wangler throws a body shot but no joy.
A quick step to the side and Zaidi tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Zaidi shoots for a takedown but Wangler saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Zaidi throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Wangler is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Zaidi's half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Zaidi looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Wangler working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Wangler seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Zaidi is looking to improve his position.
Wangler is trying to control the action in half guard but Zaidi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wangler is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Zaidi wants to get back to full guard.

Zaidi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Zaidi is working hard here to advance position.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Wangler working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Zaidi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wangler's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wangler's back!
Oooh a big shot gets through from Zaidi. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Zaidi seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Zaidi doesn't have the hooks in and Wangler manages to turn into his guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wangler with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zaidi looking for a sweep. Not yet Zaidi, not yet.

Zaidi has his foot on Wangler's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wangler works his way back into a safe position though.

Zaidi looking for subs off his back but Wangler has passed one foot through into half guard.
Wangler looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Zaidi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Zaidi has hold of Wangler's hands but Wangler slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Wangler is keen to just control but Zaidi is a slippery customer.
Zaidi is looking for a sweep. Wangler is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Zaidi is rocked!


It looks like Mohsin Zaidi has been cut.
Wangler scores with a big shot! Zaidi's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Zaidi! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bobby Wangler!
Our winner, Bobby Wangler, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
