The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McDougall lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Keyes fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with McDougall, pushing him back against the cage. Keyes manages to break the clinch.
Keyes throws a good cross that connects.
It looks like Angus McDougall has been cut. McDougall connects with a looping right hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Keyes throws a right and a left that McDougall avoids nicely. Keyes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McDougall circles away quickly and effectively. McDougall closes the distance and clinches up with Keyes, looking for a takedown. McDougall pushes Keyes against the cage but Keyes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. and Keyes counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Keyes. Keyes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. McDougall fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Angus McDougall. That's going to take a lot out of him. McDougall fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Keyes looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
That's one minute gone in the round. McDougall keeps the fight on the outside. Keyes closes the distance and clinches. Keyes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Keyes throws a combination that misses and McDougall counters with a shoot takedown. Keyes fights it but they end up in guard. Keyes looks gassed! McDougall forces his way into half guard. McDougall prevents Keyes from standing back up.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. McDougall shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Keyes pinned against the cage. Keyes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Keyes stalks McDougall and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into McDougall's face. McDougall staggers backwards, shaken. McDougall misses with a jab, cross combination.
Keyes instigates a clinch. Keyes lands a shoulder strike. Keyes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Keyes pushes McDougall up against the cage in a clinch. Keyes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. McDougall misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Keyes.

and McDougall counters with a nice double leg into guard. McDougall is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Keyes wants to get back to his feet but McDougall is in a dominant position and won't allow it. McDougall works a leg free and moves into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! McDougall has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Keyes defend it? McDougall steps over the head and cranks it - Keyes is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for McDougall!
