PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Macho Randy (ranked 4548 p4p, 80 weight class) and Jer Bear (ranked 3434 p4p, 117 weight class). Bear has chosen Good Times as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Macho Randy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 35 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jer Bear!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Franklyn Lucas and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Randy throws a body shot but no joy.
Randy sizes up Bear with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Bear swinging wildly here.
Bear closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
We've been informed that Bear has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Bear has Randy up against the cage in a clinch.
A short body shot lands from Randy as the two fighters clinch.
Bear tries to break the clinch but Randy is controlling the position.
Randy tries to work over Bear's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Bear wants to break free but Randy has control.
Bear tries to pull guard but Randy holds him up against the cage and eventually Bear drops back down to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Randy dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Randy keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bear's efforts to push away.
Bear is trying to break the clinch but Randy has him pressed against the cage.
A right hook to the body lands for Randy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Randy struggles to land a body shot inside as Bear controls his hands.

It looks like Jer Bear has been cut.
Bear looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Randy lands a nice elbow.
Randy makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Randy keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bear's efforts to push away.
Bear tries to pull guard but Randy forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
A body shot lands from Randy.
Bear looks winded!
Randy lands a nice uppercut.
Randy lands an elbow that stopped Bear in his tracks for a moment.


That has opened up Jer Bear's cut even more.
Randy gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Randy lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Bear.
Randy can't find room to land a body shot as Bear controls the action.
Randy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bear breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Randy lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Randy defending well as Bear loads up on a big left hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Randy cracks Bear with a right hand to the side of the head.

Randy closes the distance and clinches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Randy lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Bear.
Randy lands a hook to the side of the head.
A nice left hand lands by Randy.
Randy has Bear pressed against the cage, preventing Bear from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Bear is looking for a takedown.
Macho Randy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jer Bear.
A right handed body shot lands from Randy.
Randy lands a left hand that snaps the head of Bear backwards.
A hook to the body from Randy.

The cut above Jer Bear's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Randy lands on the inside with an uppercut.
A nice right hand lands inside from Randy.


Bear is rocked!
Randy stalling.
Bear is still on wobbly legs! Can Randy finish him?

Randy seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Bear seems to have recovered his senses.
I was talking to Randy's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Randy lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Randy lands a shoulder strike.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Randy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Randy creates some distance and fires off a vicious elbow that drops Bear! He pounces and finishes the fight with more strikes! Nice KO for Randy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Macho Randy!
Macho Randy spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
