The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin misses with a takedown attempt - Heart sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Griffin dives in and grabs Heart's left leg, looking for a takedown. Heart pushes down on Griffin's head and hops out.
Ryan Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Griffin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Heart's half guard.

Heart makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Heart connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Heart takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Griffin has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Griffin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Heart manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Griffin stands up over Heart, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Heart seems keen to control Griffin's posture.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Griffin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Heart has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Griffin is working away from the top position though.

Griffin wants to work for an arm triangle but Heart is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Griffin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Griffin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Griffin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Oh Heart is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Griffin arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Heart's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
