Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Greg Bell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kalle Karlsson! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Reed Andrews and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bell with a poor takedown and Karlsson counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Greg Bell has been cut. Bell throws a head kick but Karlsson moves out of range.
Karlsson is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Bell with a body shot. Bell misses with a takedown and Karlsson counters with a crisp one two that drops Bell! Karlsson thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Bell to his feet! Bell is in big trouble! Karlsson lands a big right hand that sends Bell crashing to the mat! Karlsson stays standing though and waves Bell back to his feet! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bell wants to clinch and Karlsson counters with a crisp right hand that drops Bell! Karlsson lets Bell back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Bell is rocked! Bell moves into range and clinches up with Karlsson. Karlsson breaks the clinch.
Bell has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Greg Bell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Karlsson tests Bell's chin there with a solid looking shot. Karlsson drops Bell with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Bell looks back up at him and smiles so Karlsson waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bell rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Karlsson counters with a right hand to the body. Bell throws a lazy head kick and Karlsson counters with a nice right hand that sends Bell toppling to the canvas! Bell scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Karlsson finish him?! Karlsson is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Bell flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Bell is out cold! Karlsson holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kalle Karlsson! After winning the bout, Kalle Karlsson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
