PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jamar Roth (ranked 5299 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kim Hjung (ranked 5182 p4p, 0 weight class). Hjung has chosen Korean National Anthem as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jamar Roth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kim Hjung!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roth closes the distance and pushes Hjung back into the cage.

Roth gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Hjung regains guard.

Hjung pushes Roth off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Hjung gets a double leg takedown into Roth's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Roth manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Roth has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Hjung is trying to keep an underhook but Roth manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Hjung wants to get back to full guard.
Hjung keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Hjung tries to get to full guard but Roth has control of the leg.
Roth trying to control from half guard but Hjung is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Roth wants to stand up but Hjung has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Hjung is positioning himself well to prevent Roth advancing to mount.
Hjung regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Roth.
Roth won't allow Hjung to sweep him here.
Roth would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hjung keeping moving, preventing Roth from controlling successfully.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hjung looks to land a body kick but Roth moved away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Roth enables Hjung to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Roth manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hjung distracts Roth with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Roth looking to control but Hjung passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like Hjung is going to stand back up.
Ground and pound from Hjung.
Hjung slows the pace down in half guard.
Roth trying to control here.
Hjung with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Hjung's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Roth is trying to control but can't.
Roth wants to get back to his feet.
Roth really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hjung seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Hjung stops Roth from getting back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Roth wants to improve his position but Hjung is controlling well.
Hjung looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Roth is trying to control but Hjung passes into side control!
Roth wants to control but Hjung postures up.
Hjung taking a breather here.
Roth misses with a strike from the bottom.
Roth is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Hjung is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Roth knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kim Hjung dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Roth gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hjung to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hjung scoring with some ground and pound.

Roth is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hjung is aware though and is defending well.
Hjung postures up.
Hjung postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Roth tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hjung is stalling in the full guard.
More stalling from Hjung.

Roth looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Hjung passes into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Roth tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Hjung with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Kim Hjung has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hjung blocks Roth's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Hjung takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Roth is desperately trying to improve his position but Hjung has a good base and remains in mount.
Roth tries to hold on but Hjung pushes him away.
Roth is trying to escape the mount.
Roth is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Hjung with shots to the head and body - Roth looks very uncomfortable down there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hjung scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Roth?


Roth is rocked!

Hjung wants to finish this one by submission but Roth is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Hjung.
Oh Roth is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Roth is working to get back to half guard.
Hjung scoring with strikes but Roth is staying in there.
Hjung postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Roth in real trouble here! The ref calls for Roth to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kim Hjung!
Kim Hjung decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
