Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Darrel Walters! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Ferris! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Phil Schofield and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walters closes the distance and clinches up with Ferris, looking for a takedown. Walters pushes Ferris against the cage but Ferris circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Walters gets tackled into the cage by Ferris. Ferris maintains the clinch. Ferris breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Walters really is a fat lump. Ferris throws a lazy head kick and Walters counters by clinching up. Walters lands a nice knee to the body. Walters tries to pull guard but Ferris forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Ferris breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Ferris scores with a takedown into Walters's guard. Walters wants to control but Ferris passes easily into half guard.
Ferris is keen to just control but Walters is a slippery customer. Walters is looking for a sweep. Ferris is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Ferris throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Walters slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walters wants to sweep here but Ferris controlling him for the moment. Ferris slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Walters looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Ferris puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Walters looks like he's trying to stand up.
Walters tries to get to full guard but Ferris has control of the leg. Walters might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ferris works his way into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ferris is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Walters knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Walters tries to improve position but can't. Walters is being controlled here. Ferris wants to control but Walters is keeping him busy. Ferris is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Walters is trying to escape and Ferris transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Walters is forced to tap! Nice work there by Ferris! Very nice indeed!
