PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Kellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Peers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kellis comes to the cage accompanied by Cypress Hill How I Could Just Kill a Man. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lucas Kellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, William Peers!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Peers gets caught flat footed, as Kellis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Kellis postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Peers tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kellis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Peers keeping moving, preventing Kellis from controlling successfully.
Peers is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Peers working for a triangle but Kellis defends it easily.
Peers wants to get back to his feet but Kellis is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Peers throws his legs up looking for a submission but Kellis uses it to pass to side control.
Kellis wants to control but Peers is keeping him busy.
Peers is looking for a sweep.

Kellis decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Kellis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kellis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Peers pinned against the cage. Peers gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kellis is breathing heavily.

Peers clinches up against the cage.
Peers misses with an elbow strike.
Kellis tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucas Kellis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Peers gets underhooks to prevent Kellis's takedown attempt.

Peers breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kellis wants to clinch

and Peers counters with a single leg into guard. Kellis didn't expect that.
Peers would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Kellis is trying to keep Peers in close.
Peers stays in close to Kellis's body and controls the position.
Peers stops Kellis from standing up.
Kellis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Peers's guard.
Kellis slips nicely into half guard.

Kellis postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Peers to stand up.

Kellis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Peers holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Peers manages to pull guard.

Kellis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Peers keeps working.

Peers tries to get to full guard but Kellis has control of the leg.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Peers looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Kellis is refusing to be controlled, as Peers sits in half guard.

Peers blocks the strikes from Kellis.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Peers postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Kellis is refusing to be controlled, as Peers sits in half guard.
Peers is stalling here. Kellis is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Peers seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kellis has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Peers is looking to regain half guard here but Kellis keeps moving and retains side control.
Kellis working the ground and pound but Peers is defending the strikes.
Kellis gets to mount! Peers was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Peers keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kellis prevents Peers from getting the reversal.

Kellis goes for an armbar but Peers turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Peers.

Kellis lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Peers!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kellis thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Peers tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Peers throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Peers is looking to improve his position but Kellis isn't that keen on the idea.
Peers wants to control but Kellis is having none of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Peers is trying desperately to improve position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lucas Kellis will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Peers shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Peers showed some decent athleticism there.
Kellis gets back to full guard.
Peersis looking to pass into half guard but Kellis pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Kellis is in guard.

Kellis drops back looking for a leg! Peers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Peers manages to kick Kellis off! Kellis jumps back into Peers's guard.

Kellis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Peers utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peers controls Kellis momentarily but Kellis frees himself.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Peers is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Kellis dives into side control.
You can see the frustration on Peers's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Peers tries to control but Kellis manages to take his back.

Kellis is working for a rear naked choke. Peers is not defending it well and Kellis has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Peers refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Peers's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Lucas Kellis!
