Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leo Leonpoika (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Leo Leonpoika!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leonpoika closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Leonpoika blocks the strikes from Cooper.
Leonpoika thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cooper's head.
Leonpoika is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Cooper tries to roll over but Leonpoika keeps him under control.

Leonpoika changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cooper looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Leonpoika is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Cooper is looking to take a break and control but Leonpoika is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Leonpoika counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Leonpoika.
Cooper had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Leonpoika is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Cooper Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Leonpoika's back instead.
Leonpoika tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Cooper prevents Leonpoika from getting the reversal.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cooper wants to control the action but instead Leonpoika gets a body lock and reverses into Cooper's guard! Nice work!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cooper gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Leonpoika stands up and waves to Cooper to follow him.

Leo Leonpoika showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Cooper looks to score with a jab to the body but Leonpoika is just out of range.

Leonpoika drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cooper dives on top into guard.
Cooper wants to control from the top but Leonpoika keeps moving.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cooper in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Leonpoika throws his legs up looking for a submission but Cooper uses it to pass to side control.

Leonpoika sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Cooper thows a huge punch but Leonpoika dodges it nicely.

Cooper wants to lay and pray for a moment but Leonpoika keeps working.
Leonpoika is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cooper's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cooper's back!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Leonpoika's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Leonpoika might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cooper kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Leonpoika is trying to stick to Cooper's back but Cooper is turning into Leonpoika. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Leonpoika's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Cooper.

Cooper wants to pass the guard but Leonpoika is keeping the position.
Cooper throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Leonpoika works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

and Leonpoika counters with a shoot takedown. Cooper fights it but they end up in guard.

Leo Leonpoika comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Leonpoika has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
