Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sven Eklund (ranked 4963 p4p, 153 weight class) and Hugues Dupont (ranked 2129 p4p, 69 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Eklund might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Home Grown. Hugues Dupont has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Sven Eklund's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sven Eklund!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hugues Dupont!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dupont is defended easily by Eklund.
Eklund shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dupont's guard.
Dupont utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Eklund looking to sit in guard and control but Dupont gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dupont wants to control from the top but Eklund keeps moving.
Eklund is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Eklund wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Eklund closes the distance and clinches up with Dupont, looking for a takedown. Eklund pushes Dupont against the cage but Dupont circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Eklund lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Dupont felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
