Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcus Behnder! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Teodosio Turturro! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Glass and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Behnder connects with the punch. Turturro wants to clinch up but Behnder keeps it at a distance. Turturro tries to clinch there but Behnder circles away.
Turturro rushes Behnder and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Turturro is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Behnder to keep the fight standing. Behnder lands a right hand. Turturro jumps guard but Behnder turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Behnder's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Behnder throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Turturro gets a clinch. Turturro's coach down at Reggieland was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Turturro's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Turturro tries to pull guard but Behnder won't allow it.
Marcus Behnder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Teodosio Turturro. Behnder lands with a short head shot on the inside. A shot in the inside from Behnder. Behnder stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Turturro looks winded! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Turturro takes a shot to the head. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Behnder. Behnder's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Behnder scores with a kick to the body.
Behnder bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Turturro looks up at the clock. Bad move! Behnder lands a right hand from hell, dropping Turturro. Behnder pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marcus Behnder! Our winner, Marcus Behnder, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
