Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bernardo Tanner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cal Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Tanner.
Hughes tries to counter by closing the distance.

Tanner fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hughes, pushing him back against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Tanner's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Hughes gets control of Tanner's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hughes will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Hughes is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Tanner is aware though and is defending well.

Tanner is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tanner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tanner seems to be looking for submissions.
Tanner looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hughes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Tanner looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Tanner is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hughes doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tanner.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hughes wants to improve his position but Tanner is controlling well.
Tanner takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Hughes decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hughes wants to stand up but Tanner is controlling the position.
Hughes is looking to stall here but Tanner recovers full guard.

A close round but Cal Hughes will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Hughes shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hughes showed some decent athleticism there.
Hughes wants to control but Tanner is keeping him busy.
Hughes lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Tanner wants to improve his position but Hughes is controlling well.

Hughes makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Tanner is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hughes is aware though and is defending well.

Tanner is looking for a triangle but Hughes pushes his legs off easily.

Hughes stands and steps away. Tanner gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Hughes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Tanner is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tanner is staying active underneath Hughes, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Hughes is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Hughes shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Tanner manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Tanner can't keep his opponent in guard - Hughes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Hughes gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Cal Hughes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Tanner fails with a takedown attempt.
Tanner tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hughes defends well and Tanner ends up having to push Hughes into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Hughes is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Tanner with a body shot.

Hughes throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Tanner tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hughes is in Tanner's guard.

Hughes is looking to take a break and control but Tanner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Tanner is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Tanner is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Tanner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hughes wants to take Tanner's back but he can't do it this time.
Hughes trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Tanner wants to control but Hughes is having none of it.

Tanner is wriggling around trying to escape.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Cal Hughes is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Tanner is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hughes pulls his head out easily.

Cal Hughes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hughes winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
