Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Homer Sharpe (ranked 8130 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bernie Opsakco (ranked 5267 p4p, 0 weight class). Homer Sharpe is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Homer Sharpe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bernie Opsakco!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Opsakco darts in trying to clinch

and Sharpe counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Opsakco manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Opsakco is looking for a takedown.
Opsakco tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Sharpe just stands there and leans against the cage.

Sharpe breaks from the clinch.
Opsakco is looking to clinch.
Opsakco tries to close the distance and clinch but Sharpe swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sharpe feinted with a counter takedown.

Sharpe gets caught napping as Opsakco dives in and scores a takedown. Sharpe manages to retain guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sharpe is trying to keep Opsakco in close.
Sharpe wants to stand and escape but Opsakco is having none of it.

Sharpe is controlling Opsakco's posture.
Sharpe wants to get back to his feet but Opsakco is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Opsakco trying to control the position from guard on top but Sharpe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sharpe is trying to control the position but Opsakco postures up.
Sharpe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Opsakco engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Opsakco wants to control from the top but Sharpe keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Sharpe has Opsakco up against the cage in a clinch.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Opsakco jumps guard but Sharpe stands there with Opsakco around his waist. Opsakco gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Homer Sharpe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bernie Opsakco.
Sharpe has had enough of the clinch but Opsakco keeps him there for the moment.

Opsakco manages to break the clinch.
Sharpe changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Opsakco tries to avoid it but Sharpe manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Opsakco to the ground. Opsakco escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sharpe takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Opsakco misses with a combination
and Sharpe counters with a two punch combo.
Opsakco looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Opsakco tries to clinch but Sharpe is having none of it.

Opsakco closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sharpe quickly recovers to half guard.

Sharpe makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Sharpe attempts a counter takedown but Opsakco avoids it well and moves away.
Sharpe takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Opsakco drives through with a takedown into guard.

Opsakco drops back looking for a leg! Sharpe is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sharpe manages to kick Opsakco off! Opsakco jumps back into Sharpe's guard.

Sharpe lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sharpe is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Opsakco is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Sharpe dives into side control.
Sharpe works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Sharpe is looking to take a break and control but Opsakco is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Opsakco tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Homer Sharpe will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Opsakco fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Sharpe slaps away a takedown attempt from Opsakco, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Homer Sharpe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bernie Opsakco.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sharpe manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Opsakco looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Opsakco manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Sharpe on his heels. He'll look to pass Sharpe's guard now, I'm sure.
Opsakco is breathing heavily.
Opsakco pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sharpe is keeping the position for now.
Opsakco won't allow Sharpe to get back to his feet.
Sharpe seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Sharpe is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Opsakco is controlling him.
Sharpe controls Opsakco momentarily but Opsakco frees himself.
Sharpe is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Opsakco is trying to work for a sweep but Sharpe has mounted him!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Opsakco can do anything to dispel that myth.
Opsakco is looking to improve his position but Sharpe isn't that keen on the idea.
Sharpe is landing with some decent strikes but Opsakco is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Sharpe tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Opsakco is squirming around, avoiding Sharpe's attempts to control the action.
Sharpe controlling the pace for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Opsakco misses with a double jab

and Sharpe counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Opsakco wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Sharpe is now in half guard.
Opsakco trying to hold on to Sharpe's head to control him but Sharpe postures up.
Sharpe wants to take a breather but Opsakco is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Opsakco tries to kick Sharpe off in order to stand up. Sharpe Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Sharpe has control of an arm but Opsakco manages to advance to Sharpe's back!
Sharpe rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Sharpe is looking to control Opsakco's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sharpe avoid being mounted?
Opsakco is trying to control. Sharpe wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Sharpe has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Opsakco is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Opsakco seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sharpe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sharpe tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Sharpe has one foot on Opsakco's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Opsakco throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Opsakco tries to clinch there but Sharpe circles away.
Opsakco shoots in but no luck this time.
Opsakco takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Opsakco goes for a double leg but Sharpe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sharpe continues to drive forward.

Opsakco replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Sharpe blocks it well.

Sharpe rushes Opsakco and presses him up against the cage.

Opsakco looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sharpe is fending him off so far but Opsakco persists. Nope, Sharpe circles away and we're back to standing.

Opsakco falls off balance throwing a combination

and Sharpe counters by clinching up.

Sharpe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sharpe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Opsakco can do to turn this around?
Opsakco tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Sharpe manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Sharpe changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Opsakco misses with a kick to the body

and Sharpe counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sharpe perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Sharpe decides to stand up.
Homer Sharpe is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Opsakco displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sharpe.

And that's the end of the fight!
Homer Sharpe showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Sharpe has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
