PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sake Chu (ranked 5994 p4p, 548 weight class) and Gordon Harper (ranked 7842 p4p, 605 weight class). Chu comes to the cage accompanied by Daughtry - Renegade. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sake Chu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gordon Harper!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chu throws a nice looking combination but Harper bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Chu and Harper goes tumbling to the canvas! Chu follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.


Harper is rocked!


It looks like Gordon Harper has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Chu tries to pass to full mount but Harper defends it.
Harper is looking to control Chu's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Harper avoid being mounted?

Chu's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Harper throws a body punch but Chu moves out of range.

Harper lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Chu backwards.

Harper is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Chu to keep the fight standing.

Chu on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Chu tries to get out of the position.

Chu lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Chu tries to score with some ground and pound. Harper controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Chu takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Harper ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chu moves away.
Harper misses with a wild body shot.
Chu scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Harper doesn't seem bothered though.
Harper uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Chu.

Harper wants to clinch up but Chu keeps it at a distance.

Chu lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Harper is breathing heavily.

Chu is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well Chu has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Sake Chu decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
