Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thorvald Espensen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ace Knott! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knott tries to clinch but Espensen moves away and Espensen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Espensen has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Knott clinches with his opponent.
Knott lands with a short head shot on the inside. Espensen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Espensen walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Knott stalks Espensen and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Espensen's face. Espensen staggers backwards, shaken. Espensen swats away the attempt to clinch by Knott. A quick step to the side and Espensen tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Knott tries to clinch up and Espensen counters with a nice low kick that buckles Knott's knee momentarily. Knott throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Espensen counters with a straight right hand. Knott clinches up against the ropes. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Both fighters working to control the clinch.
