The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Salvatore throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nordquist's waist but Nordquist gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Salvatore off to one side.
No joy there for Nordquist, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Salvatore closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Salvatore slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Salvatore postures up in Nordquist's guard and throws a big left but Nordquist blocks it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

It looks like John Nordquist has been cut.
Salvatore lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Nordquist can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Salvatore and Nordquist drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Salvatore.
