EMP Grappling 10 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Igor Byhenikov (ranked 7113 p4p, 550 weight class) and Jandre Vorster (ranked 4466 p4p, 449 weight class). Byhenikov comes to the cage accompanied by Harbinger. Vorster has chosen Behemoth as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 7 losses; Igor Byhenikov! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 7 losses; Jandre Vorster!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, David Schapiro and Jonathan Paton.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.

Vorster has his foot on Byhenikov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Byhenikov works his way back into a safe position though.
Vorster is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Vorster escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Byhenikov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Byhenikov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Byhenikov uses his free foot to push down on Vorster's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Vorster.

Byhenikov controlling the position well here. Vorster rolled but Byhenikov kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Vorster felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Byhenikov is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Vorster to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Vorster shrugs it off.

Byhenikov jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Vorster is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Vorster and Byhenikov has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Byhenikov swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Vorster is now in Byhenikov's guard. A big mistake from Byhenikov there, giving up the dominant position!
