Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Steve McNights! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rick Roll! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McNights tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Roll paws at him with a jab and circles away. Roll throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Roll shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McNights but McNights pushes him off and we're back to square one. McNights looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Roll is fending him off so far but McNights persists. Nope, Roll circles away and we're back to standing. McNights gets caught napping as Roll dives in and scores a takedown. McNights manages to retain guard. McNights uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Roll tries to score a power double leg takedown but McNights sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Roll somewhat. McNights rushes Roll and presses him up against the cage. McNights escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Roll shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. McNights has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Cozad MMA St Petersburg in the buildup to the fight. Steve McNights has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Roll. Roll shoots in and drives through. McNights sprawls well. McNights drops down looking for a counter takedown but Roll sprawls and moves away. McNights has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Roll should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, McNights has tightened it up now! Roll should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
